 Bahamian Souvenirs as has a long-standing history at the Bahamas’ major international gateway. Since 1973 Bahamian Souvenirs has provided many thousands of visitors and locals alike with various conveniences, newspaper and snacks to help make their travel and stay here in the Bahamas a more memorable one. Bahamian Souvenirs, as it is known today has a rich history at the country’s main gateway. More than thirty-eight years ago, a little known woman from Mayaguana with a big ambition named Althea Brown decided that she wanted to do something more to impact the lives of those persons traveling to and through the Bahamas. You see, Althea worked in one of the popular eateries at the airport and listened daily to the many hundreds of visitors and residents alike tell of the things they wished they could find in an airport like ours. So Althea decided to leave her job as a waitress and began her first business, selling authentic Bahamian Straw products. Althea’s gift store became an instant success with visitors and locals alike, and even though it had a name, “The Straw Shop” patrons affectionately called it the, “The Hole in the Wall”, because of the size of the store. Althea’s passion for service and love for people are the foundation that has allowed this business to thrive throw the many changes that the airport has seen. This same passion was her gift to her daughters who now succeed her and are looking to continue in the same fine tradition and take the business to a new level Catering to the basic needs of the traveling public while ensuring that our customers have a first-class experience is the hallmark of our business.
